We are mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The grief caused by the death of Her Majesty will be unlike anything most of us have previously experienced.
Torridge & West Devon Conservatives wish to pay tribute to Her Majesty for a lifetime of devoted service to the country. Her Majesty committed to dedicate her whole life to the nation and she continued to serve us right to the end.
Like many, I don’t know how to envisage this country without Her Majesty. I have known no other monarch. The Queen represented an invaluable continuity and stability. She had a unique ability to reassure and even comfort the nation; her speech during the dark days of Covid being a recent example.
We will of course be ceasing all campaigning activity whilst we take time to come to terms with this wounding loss.
Eventually we will become accustomed to saying ‘God save the King’ but for me that time is yet to arrive.
