On November 23, Strawberry Fields restaurant in Lifton once again played host for our Winter Dinner, a sumptuous meal including their famed three meat carvery, one of the best meals I think we’ve had at events like this! Thank you to Laura Mounce and the team for doing such a good job.
Thanks to those of you who came and supported us, we did very well with the raffle, thanks as ever to stalwart Susan Collins and our new Deputy Chair Fundraising & Membership, Caroline Mott, who coordinated the Auction, and a big thank you to James Morrish for conducting the auction so splendidly, and everyone who donated a prize. We also had a funny speed raffle draw courtesy of former Plymouth MP, Rt Hon Johnny Mercer. Sir Geoffrey gave a rousing speech as usual, and we had some interesting speakers - former candidate and entrepreneur from Cornwall, Connor Donnithorne, and Conservative rural forum mover and shaker, James Wright, fresh from his appearance in a report about farms on GB News, and also one of our Patrons.
Members of our thriving Patrons’ club came for free, of course, as part of their annual fee. If you are interested, it’s £20 a month and you get certain things for free plus it really helps support the Association including for the county elections coming up in 2025. To become a member of the Patrons club, more information is here along with other ways you can get involved with our Association, we would love to see you and have you along so feel free to get in touch!
If you would also like to help us with leaflets, donations, become a member of the Patrons club, be put in touch with our Deputy Chair Political, Ken Hind, or anything else, please contact your Chair Debbie Flint on [email protected], we would love to hear from you.
Do have a look through a selection of the photographs from the Winter Dinner, and also from the Patrons event that took place in September in Abbotsham.
Have a lovely Christmas and we hope to see you in 2025. Please don’t forget to encourage others to rejoin or join up if you have been inspired by our new leader Kemi Badenoch, doing a great job up against Keir Starmer in prime minister’s question time every Wednesday. (If you were a Robert Jenrick fan by the way, leadership finalist and now shadow Justice minister, he’s coming to Exeter on Friday, the 16th of May for a super Devon area dinner - save the date, more details from Debbie just email).
Meanwhile have a lovely Christmas!
