Patrons Launch in Abbotsham
Thanks to Susan Collins who arranged the venue for our launch of the newly revamped Patrons’ Club for Torridge and Tavistock Conservative Association (our name changes on the 6th of September due to boundary changes.)
Sir Geoffrey Cox, KC, MP gave a rousing address, and described the challenges we face, at the revival meeting of the Torridge & West Devon Conservative Constituency Association Patrons’ Club.
It was a cheery gathering, on Wednesday 23rd August, at Leslie Heard’s popular Thatched Inn pub at Abbotsham. Potential Patrons were met with a welcome drink in the form of a choice of wine, ably served by the lovely Hannah, and a delicious array of hot and cold canapés were prepared by the chef Mat Murphy, all under the aegis of Maitre’d Mark, a consummate professional. Sir Geoffrey regaled us with stories about the enthusiastic welcome he had received at the numerous village surgeries he had attended that day – tirelessly chauffeured by our former Chair, his new Chief of Staff, John Gray!
Our President, Marion Perkin presided with her usual charm, and our new Constituency Chair, Devon County Councillor, Jeffrey Wilton-Love, gave a positive assessment of local happenings.
Organiser Debbie Flint, our Deputy Chair Membership & Finance, explained the minutiae and aims of the Patrons’ Club, particularly in the propagation of youthful members.
Susan Collins, Patron and Executive Committee member, helped make everything go smoothly in the spacious private room, kindly ran the raffle and a small auction with her usual gusto enthusiasm, and having liaised with her favourite local inn ensured an excellent venue and spectacular range of serious hot and cold Canapés and groaning Cheese board!
Helping to organise Patrons’ events in the Torridge side of the constituency, is the charming Susan Collins, Executive Committee member. Helping to organise events in the south of the Constituency near Tavistock is Councillor and Executive Committee member Stephen Gibson, and helping overall, is our President Marion Perkin. Thanks to all three for your sterling work.
