Following the resignation of councillor Kathy Murdoch, a by-election to Torridge District Council is to be held next Thursday, 10 July, for Kenwith ward. Alison Boyle is your Conservative candidate.
Many local people will already know Alison, as she was born and bred in Appledore (where she still lives) and has been a councillor at different levels for almost eight years. She recently represented Bideford South and Hartland at Devon County Council; during this time, she proved herself to be a diligent champion of many causes close to the hearts of local residents. She was instrumental in efforts to ensure the continued usage of the Hartland Light, for example, and also spent time with excellent volunteer-led organisations such as the Clovelly Youth Group.
Alison has been - and continues to be - involved with a wide range of community-based groups, which gives her a strong knowledge of the unique nature and needs of the Kenwith community. Some of her more recent projects have included being a member of the North Devon Economic Partnership Board and the North Devon Enterprise Board. She has also been Chair of the Torridge Poverty Action Group and is currently Patron of the Golden Hinde Trust.
Alison loves our countryside so was delighted to have been appointed earlier this year as a Community Representative on to the Northern Devon AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
So, if you live in Kenwith and want to be represented by a dedicated, hard-working and experienced district councillor, vote for Alison Boyle on Thursday 10 July!
